Dena and I saw this spider on a walk to Safety Harbor the other day. It was at least as big as my hand and had spun a web right along the Clearwater East-West trail by our house. I thought Dena was going to jump out of her skin when she saw it.
I had a similar run-in with a big, black beastie in the garage last weekend. I'm not sure how it got into the house, after all it could have just walked up to the front door and rang the doorbell. But, I don't remember that happening - I think I would have remembered that.

Holy crap. That looks like an artist's concept of what spiders in Hell look like. How many children did that thing eat before being clubbed to death by spider poachers?
